Abstract: mon leafhopper pest on peach trees, Táoyīdiǎnyèchán (桃一点叶蝉), has previously
been misidentified as Erythroneura sudra (Distant, 1908). The correct identification is here shown to be
Singapora shinshana (Matsumura, 1932) based on available descriptions, illustrations and records of
distribution and host plants. Habitus photos and illustrations of the male genitalia for both species are
provided parison.

0 Introduction
The leafhopper, Táoyīdiǎnyèchán (桃一点叶蝉, 桃一点斑叶蝉, 桃一点小叶蝉), the
mon name of which refers to its host plant peach trees and a black patch present at
the tip of its head, is a notorious pest in China and has been studied and reported by many Chinese
taxonomists and ecologists. This insect mainly feeds on rosaceous plants, many of which are of
economic importance including apple, peach and plum trees, and others, and then overwinters on
evergreen plants.
A series of scientific names have been applied to this pest. Sun (1963) considered it a species
