Oscillator’s phase noise:
theory and simulation.

Abstract:
In this report, oscillator’s phase noise is studied. A system based phase noise model is
introduced, that demonstrates that phase spectral folding must be taken into account. A
complete theory of the oscillator’s phase noise is then developed, based on the LTV model
whose validity domain is established. This leads to propose a simulation method, whose
numerical adaptations to make it robust are presented. This method has been implemented
in a software written in C that uses Pstar as simulator, and some simulation results are
presented.
