PREFACE
The editor of this volume likes to ask the question "What for whom" when being
confronted with any new text; and he feels that the reader would be interested
in a brief answer to this question
What is to be found in this votwne?
In this volume one will find the revised papers of an international symposium
on Decision Making under Uncertainty which was held at Bielefeld University
from November lOth to 12th, 1982. The participants at this conference, psycho-
logists (working mainly in the field of cognitive and social psychology),
economists, philosophers, mathematicians and mathematics educators were asked
to present new findings or to review the state of research on fallacies,
biases and the development of decision behavior. The book anized in five
chapters. The Introduction attempts to outline the conceptual framework and
how the three sections Coqnitive Decision Researck.
