In 1845, at age 39 , she knew Robert Browning —— who is 6 years younger than her . They fell in love with each other. However, Elizabeth ’ s father is strongly against this relationship. So they e loped (私奔) and moved to Florence, Italy. Their wedding took place on 1846 , before they went to Italy. Their only child, Robert Wiedemann (known as Penini), was born in 1849 . They h appily married for 15 years until Elizabeth died in her husband's arms on June 29, 1861 in Florence. ROBERT BROWNING ABOUT ‘ PORTUGUES ’ The word ‘ portugues ’ root s in a poem ‘ Catarina to Camoens ’, which is written by Elizabeth. It is a poem praising the love between a portugues couple. Robert loves the poem so much that he always calls his wife ‘ My Little Portugues ’. To disguise Elizabeth ’ s identity , the poetry is named with the word ‘ Portugues ’. HER DEFINITION OF LOVE ?
