模因理论观照下的互文机制——以迈克尔·坎宁安的小说《时
时刻刻》为例

摘要
“互文性”是由朱丽娅· 克里斯特娃首先提出并用以指称不同文本间种种关
系的术语。自诞生之日起,互文性研究一直都是文学界和语言学界的热点话题。
虽然国内外学界已经从不同角度对文本互文现象进行了大量研究,“互文性”至
今仍然是个富有争议的术语,由此产生的讨论也从未断绝过。值得关注的是,多
数批评家和理论家在论及互文性时,只是把互文理论的相关部分运用于各自的研
究领域,很少有人深入探讨过互文性的生成机制。为了更好的理解文本互文现象,
本文拟从模因理论的视角对文本互文性进行全面审视,以揭示其深层次的生成机
制。
模因论源起于达尔文的进化论,主要阐释人类文化的进化机制。它强调不同
事物间的普遍联系性和语言进化过程中的文化“遗传”因素。迄今为止,国内外
不少学者已经针对文化模因现象做了大量研究,充分证明模因论能够合理解释人
类文化的发展历程。
文本即是模因,文本间的互文与模因间的复制如出一辙。模因理论认为,模
因由若干子模因构建而成;同理,文本由若干子文本组合而成,其中包括字,词,
句,段落,章节,各种观点和文化等。新文本的构建实质上是前文本中诸多子文
本的重新组合。重组必然导致变异,互文必定产生新的语言效果。因此,互文和
抄袭是完全不同的概念。互文文本一般都必须具备五个条件:模因环境,物理环
境,遗传环境,人类心理和模因内容。
为了进一步阐释模因理论关照下的互文机制,本文对小说《时时刻刻》同其
他三个文本(《达罗维夫人》、《到十九号房间》和《黄壁纸》)之间存在的互文关

系进行了实例分析。结果进一步证实:复制,变异和选择,这三个模因论中的关
键因素,以近乎同样的方式操纵着文本互文性的运作。

Synopsis
Intertextuality is a term coined by Julia Kristeva to designate various
relationships that a given text may have with other texts. Since the coinage of this
term, intertextuality has been one of the hottest research subjects not only in literature
but in linguistics as well. However, in spite of the fact that it has been studied from
different perspectives, intertextuality is still a controversial term and sometimes may
arouse ambiguity and ambivalence. What’s more, up to present, what most critics and
theorists have done with intertextuality is merely applying relevant theories into their
respective research fields, and few of them have spared attention upon the mechanism
for its generation. For the sake of a better understanding of intertextuality, this thesis
attempts to discuss the generating mechanism of intertextuality under the theory of
memetics
