At the moment, the development of the modern service industry in ‘Guan Zhong --- Tian Shui’ region is at a low level. However, it is facing unprecedented opportunit ies and challenges currently. Against this general background, this thesis tends to study the development problems of the modern service industry in ‘Guan Zhong --- Tian Shui’ region systemat ically wit h the applicat ion of some relevant theories and approaches of Regional Economics and Industrial Economics. The main contents and c onclusions of this thesis will be rendered as follows: Firstly, on the basis of the analysis of some general theories of regional service industry and modern service industry, this thesis will elaborate on the significance of this research from the theore t ical and practical sides respect ively. Secondly, this thesis will analyze the status quo and exist ing barriers of the development of the modern service industry in this area. Moreover, this thesis puts forward four factors which have an impact on the evol ut ion of modern service industry. These four factors mean factors of economy, market, system and talents.
