文档介绍:Rejoice Greatly Zechariah 9:9-12 July 6, 2014 ! As we look at the passage from Zechariah we may wonder what this “daughter of Zion” is all about. Zion has had various meanings or de?nitions. It started out as the hills on which Jerusalem stood. After the temple was built on Mount Moriah, it included that mountain. David extended the city and all that was included as well. But then as the people saw that the temple was where God dwelt, then Zion was seen as more than a city but also was a symbol of the whole kingdom of God. As we go to the New Testament we see Zion as not only on this earth but is also the name for the heavenly Jerusalem as is depicted in Hebrews and Revelation. ! So as we read the daughter of Zion, we will see the daughter as the daughter of God the Father, the Father of the bride. Now what does the Father of the bride do? We ?ve seen all the movies where the Father of the bride foots the bill to make the wedding perfect for his daughter. The daughter is beautiful, having the right beauty treatments, right gown, the right food, everything for a great celebration. ! As we read, we see the bridegroom is none other than the King. He ing. As we can imagine, the wedding for the King is a really grand affair. The King e in his ?nest. He should be riding a great steed. Everything should be of the best of the land and yet here we have a King, not on a war horse, not on a steed worthy of His position but a King on a donkey. Not only is this King on a donkey but on a colt, a foal of a donkey. Not the kind of King people are expecting. ! It isn ?t only that this King is on a donkey, es not with a mighty army in front and behind showing His power and the ability to rule but this es with a different weaponry, His tools of war aren ?t chariots, war horses or battle bows, no, His weapons are in His speech of peace. He doesn e with normal weapons but with righteousness and having salvation in Himself to give to all. ! This Ki
