摘要
周德伟是现代中国自由主义谱系中不可忽视的一位思想人物。青年时代他曾
留学英伦跟随新古典自由主义大师哈耶克学习古典经济学。抗日战争时期,他创
办《中国之路》半月刊并以学理批评时政。20 世纪 50 年代初,周德伟约集自由主
义学人在其寓所紫藤庐定期举行讨论,主张自由、法治与宪政,反对独裁和统制
经济。晚年他译介了哈耶克自由主义代表作《自由的宪章》一书,并撰写了《当
代大思想家海耶克学说综述》一书,向华人学界系统地介绍哈耶克古典自由主义
理论。周德伟既是一位自由主义的卫士,又是一位现代的儒家。他的自由主义思
想贯通古今中西,融合自由与儒学于一体,独具典范价值与意义。
本文以考察周德伟自由主义思想的脉络为线索,以其思想理论来源和方法路
径为依托,深入到古典自由主义理论与儒家思想的具体概念和内涵中,探究周德
伟融合自由与儒学的特色表达。
本文对周德伟自由主义思想中的重要问题,如秉承古典自由主义传统、融合
自由与儒学的方法论依据及自由与儒学二者相融的具体表现都做了详尽的分析。
对中国传统儒学中的重要思想范畴“礼”、“法”、“利”与自由的关系进行深入的
探讨。余论部分,对周德伟自由主义思想予以合理的定位及评价。

Abstract
David Chow is an important figure who can not be ignored in the field of modern
Chinese liberalism. His youth was spent in England, where he studied classical
economics under the instruction of Hayek, the new master of classical liberalism.
During the Anti-Japanese War, he founded the magazine of The Chinese Way, and
commented on politics with the theories he studied. In the early 1950s, David Chow
gathered liberal scholars at his home Wisteria House, to debate regularly, advocating
freedom, democracy and constitutional government, opposing dictatorship and
controlled economy. In his later years, he translated Hayek’s book "The Constitution of
Liberty", which is the representative of liberalism, and wrote a book named "Theory
Summary of Contemporary Great Thinker Hayek ", which introduced Hayek's theory on
classical liberalism to the Chinese intellectuals systematically. David Chow was a
defender of liberalism, but also a contemporary Confucian scholar. His liberalism
thought which integrated liberalism and Confucianism based on the related knowledge
from both the oriental and Western worlds of all times, so it is a unique example of great
value and significance.
