文档介绍:Analyst: organic PV to remain stuck ina niche 19Apr 2011 Despite a wealth of potential, organic PV will not disrupt crystalline silicon or anic thin-films any time soon, says Lux Research. Commercial deployments anic photovoltaic (OPV) modules will fail tolive upto their hype, and remain aniche technology until 2020 atthe earliest. That ’sone conclusion ofa new report from the analyst and pany Lux Research ,which specializes inmarket forecasts of emerging “clean ” technologies such assolar power and electric vehicles. While itdoes expect mercial applications indefense and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) toemerge for the technology, Lux predicts that market growth will beextremely limited –reaching only $159 million, or97MW, by2020 inits most likely scenario. The key problem isthe trade-off between cost ofmanufacturing and module conversion efficiency –despite some perceived advantages for OPV in terms ofcost: “OPV ’scomparatively poor conversion efficiencies and short lifetimes mean that itwon ’tcompete with conventional solar technologies, limiting its market potential, ”said Lux. Modeling efficiency Mike Holman, research director atLux and acontributor pany ’s Looking for aFuture anic Photovoltaics report, said : “There ’sbeen alot ofhype for OPV, sowewanted tosee ifitwas justified. ”And although Holman acknowledges that the technology has “a ton ofpotential ”,the p
