PREFACE
This training manual (TRAMAN) and its nonresident training course (NRTC)
form a self-study course to help you reach two goals: (1) to prepare for advancement,
and (2) to prepare for new job assignments. The course has been developed for use
by all Navy ratings that have occupational standards for blueprint reading and
sketching, and as general knowledge for other ratings.
SCOPE OF REVISION
This training manual includes a major revision of chapter 2 on technical
sketching. This includes the principles and methods of producing blueprints through
computer aided drafting (CAD), and its association puter numerical
control (CNC) machining. Other chapters were revised to show current standards
for both Department of Defense (DOD) and American National Standards Institute
(ANSI). Chapter 4 includes a basic introduction to geometric dimensioning and
tolerancing which standardizes worldwide machining practices and procedures.
