从目的论角度对英汉电影字幕翻译的试探性研究

摘要

当前越来越多的外国电影,特别是英美电影作品涌入中国,并受到大众的欢
迎。为了使大部分人能够欣赏外国电影,除了配音外,现在更为常见的是对字幕
进行翻译。电影字幕翻译是比较新的翻译领域,其取得的成果有目共睹,然而, 理
论上,规范电影字幕翻译的理论尚未成熟和完善,实践上,电影字幕翻译的质量
还有待于提高。
本文尝试从目的论的角度出发对字幕翻译进行研究。字幕翻译是一种有目的
的行为。字幕翻译的主要目的(功能)是在时间和空间的制约下,向处在特定文
化背景中的观众最有效的传达相关信息,使其能够更好的理解和欣赏电影作品。
为了实现字幕翻译的目的(功能),翻译人员在具体的翻译实践中必须遵循相关
的翻译原则,采取特定的翻译策略,此外,还要特别重视翻译过程中的文化现象。
全文共分七章,第一章是研究的背景和意义,第二章是文献阐述,第三章介
绍有关电影字幕的情况,第四章是理论构架,第五章重点讨论有目的的字幕翻译
活动,第六章主要围绕文化现象,第七章是结论部分。
从目的论的角度研究电影字幕翻译是本文的出发点。翻译原则,翻译策略以
及文化现象是本文所关注的焦点。希望本文电影字幕的试探性研究,对提高实际
的电影字幕翻译水平有所帮助,同时在宏观上有利于我们深化对翻译理论的认识
和理解。

Abstract

Nowadays, the increasing foreign films, especially English films flock into China.
To make most audiences easily appreciate the films, subtitle translation es an
urgent task. However, film subtitle translation is far from being satisfactory. In theory,
film subtitle translation has received little scholarly attention. In practice, the quality
of film subtitle translation is yet to be improved.
In terms of Skopostheorie, film subtitle translation is a purposeful activity. The
Skopos (purpose) of film subtitle translation is to provide, within the constraints of
time and space, a well-translated subtitle which can contribute to a good
understanding of what is happening on the screen. To fulfill the Skopos (purpose),
translator should follow certain principles and strategies, meanwhile pay more
attention to the cultural phenomenon.
The thesis consists of seven chapters: Chapter one is about introduction. Chapter
two involves the literary review. Chapter three introduces something about subtitles.
Chapter four sets up the theoretical framework----Skopostheorie. Based on the
Skopostheorie, chapter five discusses purposeful translation of film subtitle in terms
