(一)若干介词的用法
1. 表示时间关系的介词
① at, on, by, in
在什么时间用 at,如 at dawn, at dusk, at five, at noon, at night, at midnight

在什么年龄用 at,如 at sixteen, at the age of five
在早、中、晚用 in,如 in the morning/afternoon/evening。但当这三个词前有
following,next, fi ne,col d 等修饰词时,要用 on,如 on a fine morning,on the following

afternoon,on the morning of May 5t h,on Sunday evening。而在某日的上、下午的早些
或晚些时候,则用 in,如 in the early/late morning of July 7 th.

在什么日子用 on,如 on Monday, on Jan. 1s t , on Christmas Day。注意比较:at Christmas,
at Easter。
表示到什么时间、日期为止,用 by,如 by ten, by next weekend, by the end of this p
year。切记:带有 by-词组的句子通常用完成体。例如:
By the end of last year he had already mastered five foreign languages.
By next summer he will have taken all the exams.
表示在哪个月、季节、年份、世纪用 in,如 in October, in spring, in 2012, in the
21 st century。
表示“在做什么事或发生什么事的时候”,除用 when-分句还可用 on 引导的介词短语,
如 on arrival/return/arriving/hearing …。

笼统地表示一段时间用 for,如 for two years。

表示具体的一段时间,即指明从何时到何时,用 from …to/till,如 from nine to/till
