When I was a graduatestudent at Berkeleyin mathematicsduring 1966 and 1967,I
foundout, to my chagrin,that mathematics was too abstractfor me. I had always
thoughtthat I was a prettyabstract thinker, but what I began to realize about that
timein my lifewas that,in fact,all of my thoughtsare veryconcrete. They all are
based on images,analogies and reallythink only in concreteideas, and
