Ellipsis (省略)
为了使语言简洁或避免重复，省略句中的一个或几个句子成分，这种语法现象称为省略。

在简单句中的省略现象
1、省略_____
祈使句中______通常省略
(You) Don’t be sad.
Take care
(You) take care.
Don’t be sad.

2、省略______。
–Are you ready
– Yes, I am.

表语
动词不定式中为了避免重复，省去与前面出现的相同部分，只保留to，但如果在省略的不定式结构中含有be，have, 时，要保留这些词.
–Are you going there?
– Yes, I’d like to.(___ _______)
He didn’t give me the book, though he had promised ___ _____ _______
–Are you a doctor?
– No, but I want to ______
go there

3. 不定式中的省略
开心开心(真)开心(be glad,be happy,be delighted)
喜欢喜欢更喜欢(like，love，prefer)
希望希望（充满）希望(hope, wish, expect)
计划计划再打算(plan, mean, intend )
似乎(好像)试一下(seem, try)
讨厌拒绝（hate,refuse）
常见有此用法的动词有

(1)do
do用来代替动词或动词加其他成分。   know you better than he does.
2.--Have you finished your work?
--Yes, I did yesterday.
4. 有一些成分被省略而用do, so, not来代替

－It is going to rain, isn’t it? －I hope not.
