During my . work I received help from many people. Without their advice and support my
work would have been much more difficult plete. So I wish to thank all of them.
First of all, my gratitude goes to Prof. Murat Kunt. In his function as director of the Signal
Processing Laboratory I would like to thank him for the opportunity to do my . thesis in
his laboratory. The unique flavor of an international research team was always motivating. I
appreciated the numerous discussions we had, where he posed the right questions or brought me
in contact with the right people that could help me further.
I also wish to thank Prof. Philippe Robert, Prof. Sanjit Mitra, Prof. Sabine S¨usstrunk, and
Dr. Michel Benard. Their participation on my PhD jury, and their ments on my work
