As the Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester, I am determined to address it. We have got it wrong in the past and we need to improve the way we respond to those victims brave enough to come forward and report such a crime. We also need to refine the ways we disrupt this criminal behaviour. This is why I asked Ann Coffey to undertake an independent inquiry into the work that has been undertaken to tackle CSE in Greater Manchester since the sickening events in Rochdale. Those horrific crimes rocked and shocked the people of Greater Manchester, who found it difficult to believe such heinous atrocities could be happening so close to home. As we listen and learn from the victims, their families and friends who have been affected by these terrible experiences, it is vital that we translate what they tell us into positive action so we can tackle these crimes more effectively. Ann’s report highlights the actions needed and provides us with the momentum with which to achieve these positive changes. Finally, I would like to offer my thanks to Ann for putting together such a thorough and well-researched report. It’s now up to all partner agencies in Greater Manchester to deliver on her mendations and drive forward the positive changes needed to stamp out child sexual exploitation
