Skills:memory training (working memory and long-term memory), note-taking, long-term memory (relevant knowledge expansion regarding insurance to be briefed)

Procedure:
Insurance Vocabulary preparation (before class hours)
Background knowledge expansion (before class hours)
In-class practice including listening to the tape, segment by segment CI practicing, discussion among students the transfer mechanism between SL and TL, teacher’s analysis of the interpreting passage ment on hard-to-deal with parts.
Verbal back translation
Hard copies of the relevant topic materials will be given out to students plus some other supplementary stuff including tapes, videos are used at certain points of the unit proceeding to help with various CI training purpose.
Teacher’s Notes:
The crucial ability in CI is petence in SL and TL, Memory including both working memory and long term memory which is background knowledge of the relevant topic in essence and an efficient and effective note-taking skill.
Each academic hour will thus focus on the training of these three crucial aspects with focus on note-taking skill and synchronous coordination of the ans such as brain, hand and mouth. Since lack of any will lead to the failure of quality CI.
Long term memory really refers to the relevant knowledge accumulated on various topics over daily efforts of knowledge expansion. This knowledge may not be at expertise level, however, the more an interpreter knows, the better he/she can cope with when required to do impromptu interpreting. Hence, to encourage students to read, listen extensively after class is a constant homework assignment for students. In other words, students have to have an inquiring mind to explore diversity knowledge.
Note-taking is a must in CI, especially for those whose memory is weak. Sometimes one can understand all that has been spoken, but simply can’t remember what has been said, thus message
