Open the Door to Forgiveness
Teaching Objectives
1. To get students know the importance of forgiving others.
2. To understand the purpose of writing anization of the text.
3. To reinforce some basic linguistic knowledge by doing various types of exercises.
I. About the text
1. What is the theme of the text?
To explain the importance of forgiveness and offer some suggestions to set about it.
2. How is this argumentative anized?
paring two opposite attitudes toward being hurt: hating and forgiving.
II. Structural analysis of the text
Main idea of each part:
Part One (1-2) ---menting on mon experience: tit for tat.
Part Two (3-6) --- the right approach to being hurt: forgiving
Part Three (7-18)--- some suggestions about how to achieve forgiveness (including examples)
Part Four (19-22)---counter-argument on “forgiveness is a sign of weakness”.
Part Five (23)--- conclusion: forgiveness is a godlike action of creation.
III. Some difficult sentences, words or phrases
