Five Famous Symbols of American Culture
Para. 1 For Americans, the most famous symbol of their culture is the Statue of Liberty, since it is seen as a tribute to the most significant event in history—US victory in the war of independence. As a gift from the French, it was created in the mid-1870s by the French artist Frederic Auguste Bartholdi through using his wife’s body and his mother’s face as the model.
