Abstract—The main purpose of the research is to study the river. After one-day sewage precipitation from Chinese
influence on shallow ground water by heavy metal in polluted university of geo-science (Beijing), K2Cr2O7 were put into the
river. In the lab-scale experiment polluted rivers were simulated sewage and mixed evenly. Then one day later the mixed water
by domestic sewage, and three kinds of natural sand were chosen was sent to the higher supplying water container by pump.
as infiltration medium, it was found that Cr(Ⅵ) rated on Three columns were supplied water by gravity at the same
the 13th day and then had a removal ratio of 77-99% in coarse time. The columns were covered by tinfoil paper to keep out
sand, over 91% and 96% in two kinds of medium sand. The light.
mechanism of Cr( Ⅵ) removal is reducing action and
sedimentation. Cr(Ⅵ)mainly is transformed to precipitation by The sand column test lasted nearly ten months. In the early
