长元音，前元音
发音方法：发音时，舌面稍靠上，舌尖稍靠下，舌尖抵下齿，舌前部向硬颚尽量抬起但不摩擦， by hook or by crook（千方百计）

后元音，短元音
发音方法：发音时比收的更圆更小，双唇向前突出，舌后部比更高，发音时要有一定长度，口腔肌肉要始终保持紧张。
