文档介绍:parison Study of Carbon Dioxide Adsorption on Polydimethylsiloxane, Silica Gel,and Illinois No. 6 Coal Using in Situ Infrared Spectroscopy Adsorption of supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), silica gel (SiO2), and Illinois No. 6 coal pared using in situ attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared (ATRFTIR) spectroscopy at pressures up to 14 MPa and temperatures at 40°C and 50° C. Only physical adsorption of CO2 was recorded for PDMS, SiO2, and Illinois No. 6. There was no evidence of the formation of carbonic acid, bicarbonates, carbonates, or any other reaction product between CO2 and PDMS, SiO2, and Illinois No. 6 coal. Carbon dioxide adsorption on PDMS and SiO2 produced a linear isotherm while a typical Langmuirlike isotherm was observed for Illinois No. 6 coal. Attempts to measure CO2 induced swelling of the three materials was essful due to the design of the ATR-FTIR cell. Adsorption of water vapor and carbon dioxide at carboxylic functional Abstract The adsorption of water vapor and carbon dioxide at room temperature in relation to carboxylic functional groups on the surfaces of 20different types of coal was examined. The carboxylic functional groups on the surface of coal may be considered the preferential sites of adsorption pared with theother groups. The adsorption of water vapor and carbon dioxide was found to increase in proportion to the square root of the carboxyl groupconcentration, regardless of the partial pressure or the gas functional group adsorption sites to be present on the surfaces of hydrophobic matrices and adsorption to occur ina liquid-like closed packed state, the adsorption on
