2. Research and devel op ment history
February 2013, the EU announced that it would grant 50 milli on euros to accelerate the devel opment of 5G mobile tech no logy, plans to launch a mature sta ndard in 2020. [2][3]
May13,2013,South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced that it has successfully devel oped the 5th gen erati on mobile com muni cati on (5G) core tech no logy, which is exp ected to begi n in 2020 to commercializati on. The tech no logy can tran smit data at ultra-high frequency 28GHz to 1Gbps per second speed, and the maximum tran smissi on dista nee of up to 2 km. In con trast, the curre nt fourth gen erati on Long Term Evolution (4GLTE) and services of only the transmission rate 75Mbps. Prior to the tran smissi on bottle neck is widely believed that a tech ni cal p roblem, while Sams ung Electr onics is the use of 64 ada ptive array antenna eleme nts tran smissi on tech no logy to crack this p roblem. Comp ared with the tran smissi on sp eed of 4G tech no logy in South Korea, 5G tech no logy is hun dreds of times faster. Back in 2009, Huawei has laun ched the early research related tech no logies, and to show the p rotot ype of the 5G base in later years .In November 6, 2013,Huawei announced that it would in vest $600 milli on in 2018 for the 5G tech no logy devel opment and inno vati on, and p redicted that users will enjoy 20Gb ps commercial 5G mobile n etworks in 2020.
