Abstract: Phosphate slurries were prepared using aluminum dihydrogen phosphate solution and alumina/zirconia.
Carbon fibers were added to phosphate in Z-direction. Cf/phosphate composites with phosphate as matrix and carbon
fiber as reinforcing phase were prepared by brushcoating-hotpressing-vacuum impregnation densification process. The
microstructure and phase of the Cf/composites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction
analysis. The properties of the composites such as density, open porosity and flexural strength were measured, and the
infuence of alumina content and zirconia on the green body and composites were studied. The results show the highest

density of Cf/phosphate composites reaches g/cm , and the lowest open porosity is %. The oxide content affects
the mechanical properties of the composites. When m(Al(H2PO4)3):m(Al2O3):m(ZrO2) is 200:100:10,
