look此处用作连系动词,slimmer作look的表语,look slimmer作me的宾补。
英语中连系动词可分成三种情况:
表示呈现某种性质的连系动词有 be, feel, look, sound, taste, smell, seem, appear等。
e, grow, fall, turn, get, go, come等。
表示保持某种状态的连系动词有remain, continue, stay, keep, prove, turn out等。如:
He looks very angry.
Your sentence doesn’t sound right.
The sky appears blue on a fine day.
It turned out a fine day.
Our dreams have at e true.
The weather continued fine for several days.
He stayed single all his life.(终身未娶)
The leaves are turning yellow. (正逐渐变黄)
Our country is getting stronger and stronger. (越来越强大了)
2. by wearing different clothes
“by +doing”构成的介词短语,在句中作方式状语,意为“通过、靠、用、由”,用来表示方法、手段。
①He made a living by selling newspapers.
②He made himself heard by raising his voice.

cause sth. / ~ sb. sth.= ~sth. to sb./ ~sb. to do sth.

Drunken driving is often the cause of accidents.
The cause of the fire was carelessness. 火灾的致因是粗心。
区别:cause&reason
cause 着重指导致某种行为,产生某种结果的人或事物,多指自然原因,常与of连用
reason 着重指产生某情况,发生某件事情的缘由或借口,多指逻辑上的理由,常与for搭配
What was the cause of the fire? 那场火灾的原因为何?

die from illness/a wound /a fall((疾病或外因)

be dying for sth. 渴望,很想
be dying to do sth渴望做…,很想做…
I’m dying to see the film ._我很想去看这部电影。
She is dying for (to get) the beautiful necklace .她渴望得到那条漂亮的项链。
