A Winter Solstice Celebration
With the aim of making the students understand the traditional Chinese winter solstice and the origin of Chinese traditional food - dumplings, a winter solstice celebration was held on the afternoon of December 21in the school restaurant.
During the activity, the teacher asked the students to guess a riddle concerning dumplings. Then the students watched TV to understand the origin of the winter solstice. The teacher explained the scientific knowledge of the winter solstice. The students then learned how to make dumplings and experience the fun of making dumplings.
Not only did this activity enrich students’ after-school life but it also made the students have a further understanding of traditional Chinese culture .
