投资估算是指在投资决策过程中，建设单位或建设单位委托的咨询机构根据现有的资料，采用一定的方法，对建设项目未来发生的全部费用进行预测和估算。
设计概算
设计概算是指在初步设计阶段，在投资估算的控制下，由设计单位根据初步设计或扩大设计图纸及说明、概预算定额、设备材料价格等资料，编制确定的建设项目从筹建到竣工交付生产或使用所需全部费用的经济文件。
修正概算
在技术设计阶段，随着对建设规模、结构性质、设备类型等方面进行修改、变动，初步设计概算也作相应调整，即为修正概算。
施工图预算
施工图预算是指在施工图设计完成后，工程开工前，根据预算定额、费用文件计算确定建设费用的经济文件。
工程结算
工程结算是指承包方按照合同约定，向建设单位办理己完工程价款的清算文件。
