入选作品中或有类似“血统正宗”的作品，这是评选前评委会强调注重传统的结果。但是，除了个别老作者外，新的面目未见。真正有庙堂气息，博大气象的作品未见。甚至，并不很成熟，还有些稚嫩，但可见新意端倪的作品也不多见。
可见，当代隶书作者们在汉隶、汉碑这条主路中掘进航行的队伍在萎缩。
这一状况是众多评委议论最多最关注的问题。
偌大一个国字号的隶书大展，竟然最主流的东西或沿着主流开拓的东西如此之少，如此之萎缩，绝对不是正常现象。
所来稿件类似以汉碑为依托的作品只限于，《曹全》、《礼器》、《朝侯小子》也有少量《乙瑛》等。都属于比较温婉整饬一路，同时，因为这类字难以写大，作品几乎是寸字大小的条屏类幅式。
最值得“表彰”的是，以《褒斜道》等摩崖为法源的作品，占有相当的比例。也就是有行无列章法的作品较多。字径小的三五公分，大的十几公分。几乎都以条幅创作，满值铺陈；几乎都用糙纸蔴纸，或宣纸揉搓染色的形式出现；几乎都不同程度的用宿墨涨墨手段。似乎是一个创作训练班出来的作者。从风格到技巧，从技术到装饰，从形式到思路，有着同一的套路。

虽然他们的法源属于经典一系，可是，搞出来的作品雷同，也还是都挤在一条路窄人多的路上。只有笔墨功夫较好，有灵性的作品入选。
以简帛为法源的创作，此展不在少数，入选也有几件，获奖也生机会。这是可喜现象。我们看到毕竟有些书家上溯古隶源头开掘，这是可喜现象。但就作品来看，绝大多数操简帛的作品，还是处在探索或模拟阶段。根据是，作品风格与其法源十分接近，小字居多，似乎刚刚脱离母体的感觉。同时，凡古帖有的字写来味道纯正，而没有的字显得忸怩。对这些作者的思路我们是抱有肯定态度的，也觉得隶书大道有多条，此条属一条。可信，可信。但真正走通走畅还需有志者跬跬以进，还需智慧与功力。
近些年《好大王》一路走热，此展明显降温，虽有
