Thepresentstandarddoesnotapplytosurfacesofequipmentforwhichapermanentcoating(suchaspainting,rubbercoating,plasticcoating)hadbeenspecifiedorhasbeenprovidedforbycontractor/manufacturer.
DefinitionsProtectiveMeasuiesforTransportation
Measuresservingastemporaryprotectionofequipmentagainstdamagesduetocorrosionandmechanicaldamagesoccurringduringtransportation,includingstoragepriortotransportationandintermediatestorageaftertransportationtilluse.
Equipment
Inthesenseofthepresentstandard:Allitemsofthedeliverysuchaspipingcomponents,valves,smallparts,sheetsandplates,columntrays,apparatus,steelstructures,machines.
Apparatus
Pressurevessels,heatexchangers,columns,etc.;deliveredinparts,asindividualvesseloras"package"=completeunitincludingpiping().
Rust-SensitiveSteelsCarbonsteelsandlow-alloysteelsaswellascorrespondingcaststeelcorrodingunderatmosphericinfluence.
StainlessSteels,NonferrousMetals

GeneralRequirementsDurationofProtection
Atleast12months,independentofmeansoftransportandclimaticconditions,referredtosurfacesofprotectedparts;slightcoiTosionofpartsnottobeprotectedwillbetolerated.
MeansofProtection

VCI-products1):WrappingoftheequipmentwithVCI-paperorVCI-foilorapplicationofVCI-foams,-paperor-powdertothechamberstobeprotectedbytakingintoconsiderationtheapplicationtechniqueandproductinformationofthemanufactureroftheVCI-product;air-tightsealingofthesechambersisnotnecessary,butamechanicalprotectionisnecessary,.
Dryingagents:withanti-corrosiveeffect;granulatedmaterialpackedinbags,quantitydependingonthecase/containervolume,airhumidityand-,-tightsealingfoil2)andmechanicalprotectionbyusingcasesorapplicationinhermeticallysealedapparatus.
Zincsilicatecoating3):coatingthickness50-80pm,unlessspecifiedotherwise.

Packaging
Differentmaterials(-sensitivesteels,stainlesssteels,aluminium)shallbepackedseparately.
Betweenfasteningmeans(,brackets)madeofwoodorrust-sensitivesteelandequipmentmadeofstainlesssteelornonferrousmetalsawateiproofintermediatelayer2)shallbeprovidedfor(;nofelt!).
ProtectiveMeasuresforSpecificEquipmentPipingcomponent
Pipesandfittings(pipebends,tees,reducers,caps)forallmaterialswithoutanypreservationoucoating.
Endsofpipesandfittingsopen(withoutplasticcaps).
Flangefacingsprotectedagainstmechanicaldamagesaccordingtomanufacturer'sstandard,rust-sensitivesteelsprotectedagainstconosionbypeel-offcoating.
Smallpipefittingsandflanges(<DN200orNPS8)packedincases.
Specialparts(orificeplates,meterruns,springhangersetc.)madeofrust-sensitivesteelswithoutercoatingaccordingtomanufacturersstandard;barepartswhich,duetotheirfunction,maynotbecoated,suchasthreadsandbearings,shallbeprotectedbymeansofgraphite,grease,oil(withtheexceptionofpartsforoxygenservice)orpeel-offcoating.
Pipesupportsshallbeassembledandprotectedwithzincsilicatecoating;threadsshallbeprotectedbymeansofgraphite,grease,oil.
ValvesValvesmadeofrust-sensitivesteelswithoutercoatingaccordingtomanufacturersstandard.
Openingsclosedwithplasticcaps,whichoverlaptheflangefacings.
Stemsprotectedwithgraphite/grease(withtheexceptionofvalvesforoxygenservice).
Smallvalves(<DN100orNPS4)shallbepackedincases.
Smallparts
Smallpartssuchasbolting,pipeunions:suchpartsshallbewrappedinVPS-paperinlayersorperlotorshallbeweldedininasuitablefoil2)orAl-compoundfoil2)byaddingofdryingagents;theyshallbepackedincases.
Platesmadeofrust-sensitivesteelsNotpre-manufacturedplatesshallbeblast-cleanedmillscale-freeonbothsides.
Pre-manufacturedpartsforfurnaces,-cleanedmillscale-freeonbothsides,andshallononeside(outside)becoatedwithzincsilicate,butshallremain,however,uncoatedoverawidthof50mmbesidethepreparedweldingbevels.
Pre-manufacturedpartsforlarge-sizetanksshallbeblast-cleanedmillscale-freeonbothsidesandshallbecoatedwithzincsilicateweldingprimer().
Pre-manufacturedpartsforcoldboxesshallbeblast-cleanedmillscale-freeonbothsidesaccordingtoaseparatespecification,butshallremain,however,uncoatedoverawidthof50mmbesidethepreparedweldingbevels.
Columntrays
Protectivemeasuresfortransportationofcolumntraysmadeofrust-sensitivesteelsaccordingtoaseparatespecification,independentofoperatingfluidandstoragetimeprovidedfor.

Threadsinpartsmadeofrust-sensitivesteelshallbeprotectedwithgraphite,greaseoroil(withtheexceptionofpartsforoxygenservice).
Steelstructures(steelstructuralelements,vesselframes,platforms,stairs,etc.)Rust-sensitivesteelsshallbeprotectedwithzincsilicatecoating.
Machines
Formachines(compressors,turbines,pumps,etc.)andaccessoriesthefollowingshallapply:
casingswithoutercoatingaccordingtomanufacturersstandard,externalbareitems(suchasshafts,couplings,etc.)madeofrust-sensitivesteelsareprotectedbymeansofpeel-offcoating.
Furtherprotectivemeasuresfortransportationshallbedeterminedbythecontractor/manufacturerofthemachinesandbeagreeduponwithLINDE.
