If you go to only one place in all of Japan, Kyoto should be it. Even though its well-preserved architecture(建筑) and relics(文物) are what put Kyoto on the sightseeing map, I've always felt that its scenes from daily life are what make the city exceptional(特殊). Kyoto is home to the nation's greatest concentration(聚集) of craft(工艺) artisans(工匠), making Kyoto famous for its shops dealing in textiles(纺织品), dyed fabrics(染色布), pottery(陶器), bambooware(竹器), cutlery(餐具), fans(扇子), metalwork(金属制品), umbrellas(雨伞), and other goods. No wonder Kyoto is also home to 20% of Japan's national treasures.
