Abstract:The diesel engine is the main power plant of merchant ship, and it is also the marine machinery to be well understood by deck officers. This chapter introduces the principle and structure of diesel engine, the service systems, the running characteristics, the outline of running, operation and maintenance. This chapter is the most important content of this course.

热机(Thermal Engine):将热能转换为机械能的动力机械。

柴油机:是一种压缩发火的内燃机。使用柴油或劣质油做燃料,在气缸内与空气混合形成可燃混合气,pression ignition)。柴油机在热机中具有最高的热效率。

上止点(Top Dead Center, TDC):活塞在气缸中运动到最上端位置,也就是活塞离曲轴中心线最远的位置。(★★★★)
下止点(Bottom Dead Center, BDC):活塞在气缸中运动到最下端位置,也就是活塞离曲轴中心线最近的位置。(★★★★)
行程(Stroke):活塞从上止点移动到下止点的距离。行程等于曲轴曲柄半径的2倍。活塞移动一个行程,曲轴转180。(★★★★)
