Currently in China in many colleges English teaching is in a dilemma: CET 4 as a national level test, many universities are pursuiting blindly higher passing rate, and many students band it as the ultimate target of their English passing it, they will lose the interest in learning English, which will eventually cause a lack of students’ English ability, and there will be even a phenomenon of high scores and low abilities. This obviously does not match the goal of college English teaching in China, therefore, how to achieve the balance between CET4 and English ability cultivation is a thought-provoking question.
