它除了用来修饰动词、有些副词还可以用来修饰形容词、副词、短语或句子。修饰动词放其后,修饰形容词、副词放其前。副词在句中多作状语。

如: works hard .(修饰动词)
am very busy.(修饰形容词)
runs too quickly .(修饰副词)
形容词和副词的级别
大多数形容词和副词有三个等级:
原级比较级最高级
形容词和副词原级的用法:
用来直接描述人物或动作。
John is a tall boy. Rabbits run fast.
,quite(相当),so,pretty,rather (相当) ,too后,必须用原级。
I am very happy .
Lily's hair is too long.
形容词和副词原级的用法:
同级比较
You are as tall as me.
Daming is as old as Tom.
2)否定形式为… not as(so) + 原级+ as …
“前者不如/没有后者”
1)… as + 原级+ as …“……和……一样”
You aren’t as tall as me.
You aren’t so tall as me.
Daming is not as/so old as Tom.
Jack is taller than Peter.
Bruce is the tallest of the three boys.
一般直接加er,est

以辅音字母+y 结尾时把y变i,再加-er -est
大红湿热悲瘦胖
big red wet hot sad thin fat
big bigger biggest
以重读闭音节结尾且末尾只有一个辅音字母时,双写最后一个辅音字母,再加-er, -est
