It is widely acknowledged that governments are set to serve the people. Thus governments should solve problems for us. However, there has always been a debate that whether governments should focus on the immediate problems of today rather than on trying to solve the anticipated problems of the future. This is a good question and both sides should be carefully analyzed.
It is obvious that the immediate problems of today is urgent, otherwise it can not be called problems. For example, the CPI today in China is very high. Governments should focus on solving it, or the high level of inflation will cause the instability of the whole society. If a government can not solve some urgent problems, people may fight against the government and the society may not function well.
While it is immediate to solve the immediate problems of today, it may also cause big problems if we only focus on the immediate problems of today. Some problems need to be solved at once, but governments should not only pay attention to immediate problems.
