First of all, my heart-felt thanks go to my supervisor Prof. Li Xiaoxiang, who has
not only taught me the essentials of Second Language Acquisition, but also shaped my
character of always aspiring to be the best. Prof. Li has played an instructive and
constructive role in pletion of the thesis, as he suggested the topic and kept me
informed of updated information.
Second, I would like to extend my special thanks to Prof. Zheng Yuqi, Prof. Zou
Changzheng, Prof. Guo Xiaoning, Prof. Li Lu, Prof. Liu Xuming and Prof. Chen
Shumei for getting me acquainted with various subjects which have enabled me to
broaden my horizon.
I am also grateful to Miss Chen Zhengrong, who has proofread my thesis and
offered illuminating suggestions, Mr. Wang Jiuwei, who has spent much time working
on the cosmetics of this thesis and my classmates Zhang Xin, Zhang Jing, Li Xuan,
Jin Ruo, and Huang Hong, who are ready to help me anytime.
