摘要

卡森·麦卡勒斯是 20 世纪美国重要的南方作家之一。早在 23 岁时,她就以
《心是孤独的猎手》成名,成为南方文学界的一颗新星,随后又创作了《伤心咖
啡馆之歌》、《婚礼的成员》和《金色眼睛的映象》等作品,在文学批评界均产生
了一定影响。
尽管国外评论界对麦卡勒斯已有较深入的研究,但国内对于麦卡勒斯及其作
品的研究依然匮乏。国内研究者较多地集中于《伤心咖啡馆之歌》和《心是孤独
的猎手》这两部作品,主要分析其中的主题含义和“怪诞”的哥特式表现手法。
虽有个别研究涉及叙事策略、互文性和性别观,但数量极少。因此,关于麦卡勒
斯小说中人物形象分析仍然有极大的研究空间。
本论文将结合双性同体理论来剖析麦卡勒斯三部重要作品中一系列具有双
性同体特质的人,通过展现他们性别跨越的历程,揭示出二元对立的性别观对于
个性自由在某些程度上的危害。
本论文将主要分为五章。第一章是导论部分,对于麦卡勒斯的生平、作品及
双性同体理论进行简要概述。麦卡勒斯的个人经历很大程度上影响了她日后的性
别观,而她的性别观又在很大程度上反映在了她的作品中。第二、三、四章为主
体部分,通过对麦卡勒斯三部作品中四位主角的细读,展现他们性别跨越的历程,
研究社会既定的性别观对个性自由的扼杀。第五章为结论部分,对全文简要总结,
同时进一步揭示本研究的意义。

Abstract
Carson McCullers is one of the most important American writers in the 20th
century. es to be known as a talented writer with the publication of her first
novel The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter. Her latter literary works, The Ballad of Sad Café,
The Member of The Wedding, and Reflection In A Golden Eye, are also highly
appreciated by the reader and the critical circle.
Though critical responses to McCullers and her works are quite extensive in
foreign literary circles, the study of McCullers and her works is still quite limited in
China. The early studies of McCullers are mainly focused on the theme of loneliness,
or the gothic elements in McCullers’ works; however, prehensive study of her
characters in their gender roles is still lacking.
This thesis would mainly focus on a group of androgynous characters in
McCullers’ three novels, dwelling on how these androgynous characters are suffering
in a society with conventional binary gender standards, and thus displays how this
society is strangling people from achieving their individual freedom.
This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter One is a general introduction to
the life of McCullers, the literature review of McCullers’ works, and a general survey
