MEASUREMENT TEMPERATURE OF DEEP TISSUE IN DIFFERENT DEPTHS UNDERNEATH THE SKIN ALONG DU MERIDIAN COURSE

ABSTRACT
Some reports showed that the temperature over the body surface along meridians course was higher than controls. In order to clarify the factors caused the phenomenon, thirty healthy volunteers were observed. Five points along Du meridian were selected for observation, namely Shendao(Du11);the 8th inter thoracispinal; Jizhong(Du6);Xuanshu(Du5);Mingmen(Du4). At the same time, two points bilateral from each acupoint along Du meridian were selected as control. At first, skin temperature of measured points was taken. Then, the temperature of the tissue which locate in 2cm; ;and1cm under the body surface were measured respectively by an apparatus specially designed by TONG JI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY. The infrared radiant track was observed in a part of the subjects pared with temperature measured in hypodermic deep tissue. The results are as follows:
1、 The temperature along Du meridian over the body surface was higher than that of non-meridian controls.
2、 The temperature in hypodermic deep tissue along Du meridian was higher than that of non-meridian temperature varied with the depths of tissue measured. Deeper the tissue measured, higher the temperature.
3、Under the natural conditions, without any artificial stimulation or interference
, the infrared radiant track over the back of human body was recorded.
4、The difference of temperature between the meridian and non-meridian was significant. But, no marked difference between the temperature of bilateral
