切分的定义:
切分就是指根据汉语的句法特点,把英语的句子分解成两个或两个以上的单位,以求译文在正确传达原文的思想内容的前提下明白晓畅。切分包括单词分译、短语分译和句子分译。
1、单词分译:把原文中的一个单词分译成一个句子。教材P68
(1)名词分译
1) He shook his head and his eyes were wide, then narrowed in indignation.
2) It was a disappointment that I had to delay the visit to China that I had intended to pay in March.
,两眼睁得圆圆的,接着又眯成一条线,脸上露出了愤怒的神色。
,因故不得不推迟,这使我感到很遗憾(或很失望)。
(2)形容词分译
1) Chairman Mao might have spoken with understandable pride of his policy of “self-reliance”.
2) He had long been held in cordial contempt by his peers; now that contempt was no longer cordial.
“自力更生”的政策时,也许有些自豪感,这是可以理解的。
,他的同僚虽然看不起他,却还是对他有些亲切感;现在,除看不起之外,亲切感也没有了。
(3) 副词分译
1) Anyone, finding such mistakes in a college student’s essay, would be justly angry.
2) Illogically, she hopes to pass the exam without learning hard.
,任何人都会很生气,这是正常的。

2、短语分译:把原文中的一个短语分译成一个句子。教材P69
(1)名词短语的分译
I wrote four books in the first three years, a record never touched before.
2) Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, a universally accepted law.
我头三年写了四本书,打破了以往的记录。
能量既不能创造也不能消灭,这是一条普遍公认的规律。
(2)分词短语的分译
1) He didn’t remember his father leaving home when he was only 3 years old.
2) She sat with her hands cupping her chin, staring at a corner of the little kitchen.
,因此他不记得父亲。
,眼睛凝视着小厨房的一角。
(3)介词短语的分译
He arrived in Washington at a ripe moment internationally.
Their power increased with their number.

(1)简单句的分译
1)Her cheeks have a sickly pallor.
2) His failure to observe the safety regulations resulted in an accident to the machinery.
3) The pleasures of sunbathing began to pall (on us) after a week on the beach.
4) She had made several attempts to help them find other rental quarters without ess.

,机器出了故障。
