HA samples with > 10,000 ppm sorbed U(VI) with chernikovite identified
(Fuller et al, 2002a). In batch sorption samples with sorbed concentrations
<4700 ppm U(VI), the log IAPCHN was < -58, consistent with the conclusion
from the fits to EXAFS spectra that plexation effectively -
peted the precipitation of chernikovite. In these samples, the initial dissolved
uranium concentrations (> 7600 |ULg/Hter) resulted in log IAPCHN > —52,
indicating that the initial conditions greatly exceeded chernikovite solubility,
but precipitation was not observed.
