在我国丰富的民族文化宝库中,有许多关于鸟的崇拜、占卜和禁忌等文化遗存。这些光怪陆离、饶有趣味的鸟文化和其它民俗事象一样,是活的社会“化石”。而关于鸟的成语和神话也是数不胜数,比如门可罗雀,鸦雀无声,鸠占鹊巢,精卫填海等。我们不难看出,中国关于鸟的谚语,大多比较具体,即比较具体的使用某种鸟来表达意思,而且界限明显,区别很大。与之有所差异,在许多的英国谚语中,并没有单独的使用某种鸟,而是以一个类得概念,即“bird”这个大的概念来形成谚语。
