英语专业学生对英语和汉语的语言态度研究

摘要
语言态度研究是社会语言学中有理论价值的课题,对于了解一个民族、一个
群体或社团的心理特点具有重要的实用价值,并且对研究语言规划的理论探索和
语言方针政策的制定也有重要意义,还可为教育提供参考信息。本文拟从社会语
言学的观点出发,试图分析英语专业学生对所读专业英语和母语汉语的语言态度
差异。以 Baker 的社会文化模式为理论基础,本文作者提出将该模式中的性别,
学校类型和家庭背景三要素作为决定这种语言态度差异的变量,并对此进行验
证。
本研究旨在回答以下问题:
1)中国英语专业大学生对英语和汉语的语言态度有何不同?
2)性别,学校类型和家庭背景对语言态度有没有影响?有什么样的影响?
本研究选择辽宁的三所高校共 183 名英语专业学生作为研究对象,通过面谈
和问卷获取数据以进行定性和定量分析。结果显示:语言态度差异经过数据的因
子分析主要表现在三个方面,即亲和力、地位价值、现代性格。在亲和力层面上,
被试对汉语的评价略高为英语,而在地位价值、现代性格层面上,被试对英语的
评价明显高于汉语。被试的语言态度是一个多元的价值系统,存在着性别、学校
类型、家庭背景等方面的差异。本文依据社会语言学对调查结果进行解释,分析
了语言态度差异产生的社会原因。

Abstract
Researches on language attitudes are not only of theoretical importance in
sociolinguistics, but also of practical value. They can contribute to the understanding
of the psychological characteristics of a people, or munity and furthermore, the
progress of language planning, language policy and education. The present study tries
to find out the differences of language attitudes of English majors towards their major
English and their native language Chinese from a sociolinguistic perspective. Based
on Baker’s socio-cultural model, the author proposes taking the gender, school type
and family background factors as three variables determining these differences, which
are further testified in the research.
The present study aims to answer the following questions:
1) What are the differences of language attitudes held by English majors in China
towards English and Chinese?
2) Do the gender, school type and family background have impacts on the
differences? What are the impacts?
The research chooses 183 English majors from 3 universities in Liaoning
province as subjects. Interviews and questionnaires are employed to obtain both
qualitative and quantitative data. Results indicate these differences, by factor analysis,
