《贫民窟的百万富翁》中人际语法隐喻现象分析

摘要
韩礼德(1985,1994)认为语言具有三大元功能: 概念功能,人际功能和语篇功
能。在此基础上他将语法隐喻分为概念语法隐喻和人际语法隐喻。人际语法隐喻
是在表达人际意义的过程中出现的语法隐喻现象,人际语法隐喻又分为语气隐喻
和情态隐喻。
本文试着通过对电影语篇《贫民窟的百万富翁》中的人际语法隐喻的分析来
探讨人际语法隐喻在电影语篇中的功能。文章中作者采用了定性和定量的方法来
分析电影中的人际语法隐喻现象。首先作者采用了了定量的研究方法分别统计了
电影中出现的语气隐喻和情态隐喻,用两个表格表明了语气隐喻和情态隐喻的发
生和频率,这样证明了人际语法隐喻在电影《贫民窟的百万富翁》中是存在的。
然后作者采用了定性的研究方法分别描述了语气隐喻和情态隐喻在电影中的作
用。语气隐喻的使用不仅使英语语言的表达更加多样化,而且可以突出人物在交
谈过程中的某些特殊语气,这样可以体现他们的性格特征,社会地位等。使用显
性主观情态隐喻可以强调主观,体现了说话人对自己所说内容的不确定性;而显
性客观情态隐喻的使用可以创造可观,说话人可以将自己的看法隐藏为一种客观
事实,逃避了责任,让别人难以质疑。
本文说明系统功能语法能够为电影语篇分析提供一个多层次多功能的理论框
架,有助于我们更好更全面的理解电影语篇。

Abstract
Halliday (1985, 1994) indicated that language had three metafunctions: ideational
function, interpersonal function and textual function and according to this division he
divided Grammatical Metaphor (GM) into ideational Grammatical Metaphor and
interpersonal Grammatical Metaphor. Interpersonal Grammatical Metaphor refers to the
grammatical metaphorical phenomenon that happens in the realization of interpersonal
meaning and it can be divided into metaphors of mood and metaphors of modality.
This thesis is a try to explore the functions of interpersonal GM through the
analysis of interpersonal GM appearing in the movie Slumdog Millionaire. The author
used quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the interpersonal GM in the movie.
First the quantitative method was used to calculate the numbers of metaphors of mood
and metaphors of modality respectively. Two tables were made to show the occurrence
and frequency of the two kinds of metaphors. This indicated that the interpersonal GMs
existed in this movie. Then the qualitative method was used to interpret the functions of
metaphors of mood and metaphors of modality. By using metaphors of mood, the
