evidence base; they must also ensure that interventions are culturally

Kamaldeep Bhui is Professor of Cultural Psychiatry and Epidemiology and
an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist, East London NHS Foundation Trust. He
is also Director of Tower Hamlets Cultural Consultation Service, President
of the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry, and Founding Director of
the innovative MSc course Transcultural Mental Health Care at Queen Mary,
University of London. A Trustee of Careif, an international mental health
charity, Professor Bhui also works as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. He
