In order to accurately predict the total electric field due to corona discharge of HVDC transmissi on lines, a hybrid algorithm based on finite element me thod (FEM) and finite volume method (FVM) is proposed. The method is verified by measurement results of unip olar and bipolar conductors. Different methods pared, and it shows that the proposed method gives better re sults. Finally, the proposed method is used to predict the tota l electric field intensity at the ground level under ± 800 kV DC transmission lines. KEY WORD
