环形掺铒光纤激光器中的光学双稳态现象研究
摘要
近年来,人们对于信息的需求不断增加,促进了光通讯领域的不
断发展。人们对于高速光信息网络提出越来越高的要求,于是人们提
出了全光网络的概念。双稳态激光器作为光交换、光逻辑运算的一种
重要部件得到了广泛的研究。
我们设计了一个环形光纤双稳态激光器,从实验上观测到了双稳
态现象。为了找出双稳态现象出现的原因,我们对于我们设计的环形
双稳态激光器的开环增益做了测试,得到了增益曲线,并通过增益曲
线解释了双稳态形成的机制。
通过上述的工作,我们将双稳态现象形成机制的问题转化为了掺
铒光纤放大器的特殊增益现象问题。通过对于掺铒光纤激光放大器的
理论研究,提出了特殊增益现象出现的原因,即特殊增益是由掺铒光
纤的饱和增益和饱和吸收现象共同作用的结果。定性地对特殊增益现
象作出了解释。
我们进一步提出了定量的理论模型,并使用此理论模型对实验结
果进行了拟合分析,拟合数据很好地吻合了我们的定性分析。
利用我们的理论模型,我们讨论了不同设计参数,特别是掺铒光
纤长度、谐振腔损耗,对于双稳态激光器双稳态区间的影响,解释了
国外实验小组在实验上的一些结果。

STUDY ON
OPTICAL BI-STABILITY PHENOMENON
IN ERBIUM-DOPED FIBER RING LASER
ABSTRACT
Recent years have witnessed a great development in optical
munication, due to the increasing demand for information. To
meet the ever-demanding standards for optical munication
network, people have proposed the concept of all-work. Thus,
as a key device used in optical switching and optical logic, bi-stable laser
has been widely studied.
In our study, we have proposed a simple design of Erbium-doped
fiber ring laser and observed distinguishing bi-stability phenomenon. In
order to study the intrinsic mechanism of this bi-stability phenomenon,
we measure the open loop gain of the laser. And as expected, the result
can be used to essfully explain the reason underlying the
phenomenon.
Therefore, our focus was shifted from the study of bi-stability to the
study of the unique gain of our Erbium-doped fiber ring laser. Through

some theoretical research, we came to the conclusion that this special
gain curve originates from bined effect of saturated gain and
saturated absorption.
