choose the best possible Cruits for your garden. It describes the
Tbest and most popular Cruits. Sorne varieties are known by
more than one name. In these cases the IDon name is used
with the less well known alternatives follow ing in parentheses.
Many varieties have chilling requirements that must be met for the
fruit to develop properly. The chiUing requirements are described.

Low chill 300 up to 400 hours below 45° F
Moderate chill 400 up to 700 hours below 45° F

varieties. You may still be able ro raise the fruit in parís of the
country uncolored on che map ir special varieties are available for

Just because a variety is mended for one area does not m~ces­
sarily mean that it can't do well in others. Local climate, as we ll as
special treatment from the gardener, can support plants that generally
are not expected ro do well in a given region.
