篇一:英语小故事
The City Mouse and the Country Mouse Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. One day the Country mouse wrote to the City mouse; he said, "Do come and visit me in the the City mouse went. After the City mouse arrived, he said,The food is not tasty, and your house is not pretty. Why do you live in such a shabby hole in the field? You should come with me and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have yummy food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city."
They spent what the city mouse called a “tedious” weekend in the country. Then, the Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very cozy house with dizzy décor. Sumptuous food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a mewing-like noise. The City mouse cried,Run! Run! The cat is coming! They ran away quickly and hid in the dark.
After their tiny hearts stop hammering, they came out and the Country mouse said in a relief, "I do not like living in the city. Instead, I like living in my little hole. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid."
