expanded its territory far
into the west frontier by
defeating such nomadic
tribesmen as Tuguhun
and the western Turkey.
The reasons why Tang Poetry came into being
Literarily, Emperor Tai of Tang
(with the personal name Li Shiming)
became engrossed in literature,
especially poetry and Fu (rhymed prose), so earnest that he ordered that poetry and Fu be taken into the civil service examination, hence an incentive to promoting the advancement of the poetry.
The reasons why Tang Poetry came into being
Traditionally, the Book of Poetry, the Poetry of the South, the Yuefu Songs and the Six-Dynasty poems all made contributions to the advent of Tang Poetry.
What are the features of Tang Poetry?
--“Grandeur” imbued in the poems of the Early and Prosperous Tang periods.
--The “meritorious and sarcastic” in the poems.
--Defined in 5/7-word format, but not restrained.
