With the development of the Internet and the popularization of computers, shopping online is becoming more popular every year and with the ready availability of credit cards, debit cards and companies like PayPal, it is within the reach of most people to make purchases online.
Taobao
In the May 10, 2003, Taobao Investment was founded by the Alibaba Group, which business across the C2C (person to person) personal online trading platform and B2C (business-to-individual) of two major e-commerce service provider Taobao Mall. It creates the miracle of the largest network of sales. By the end of 2009, Taobao has 170 million registered members, covering most of China's online shopping population.
Shopping Advantages
convenience, no pressure shopping
saving in time, consistency between advertised price and site price
information on product comparison easily available online
ease in merchandise cancellation or return, tracking of shipping available
no taxes
Shopping Disadvantages
lack of touch and feel of merchandise
lack of personal attention from a salesman, not able to try the merchandise on (especially clothing)
lack of close quality examination , more chances to encounter fraud (disappearance of shopping site)
more chances for mistakes in ordering the wrong item
slightly higher exposure of credit card security
Advice to the Online Merchants
Provide clear and sufficient information so consumers can make an informed choice
Take reasonable steps to ensure the consumer's choice is informed and intentional (avoid mistakes and misunderstanding)
Publish privacy statement and protect personal information
Use secure e-commerce transaction system with fair, timely and affordable methods to resolve transaction problems
Never use spam marketing through email or Internet
Offer third party references about safe use of e-commerce
