Abstract
Nowadays, an all-round, wide-ranging and multi-level international cooperation
pattern has formed. The model and content of cooperation and exchange also become
richer. For a Sino-American joint venture, in which the author used to practice, technical
exchange is priority. Therefore, the translation of files with high quality can promote
technical cooperation as well as the long-term development of the company.
This practice report is based on the Chinese-English translation of safety technic
operation regulations, which is chosen from the operation files translation of a
Sino-American joint venture that the author has engaged in during the internship. The
author analyzes safety technic operation regulations and relevant translation strategies to
provide a preference to the research of null-subject sentences in regulation texts.
Owing to differences in the thinking modes and syntactic structures between Chinese
and English, how to deal with Chinese null-subject sentences is difficult in the process of
translation. Safety Technic Operation Regulations are operation steps and attention points
that shall be followed by workers during the operation procedure. The language is
accurate and concise with subject omitted. In this report, some translation strategies of
null-subject sentences will be discussed with the guidance of three principles of Skopos
theory by analyzing some cases in
